Who you are contracting with

These terms are an agreement between you and MeritResume (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them.

Payments are handled by Creem, which acts as our merchant of record. That means Creem is the seller for the payment itself, your receipt comes from Creem, and Creem’s own terms also apply to the transaction.

What this service does

MeritResume has two parts. The checker analyses a resume and returns a score with specific findings. The builder lets you write and store resumes in your account and download them as PDF or Word. Both are informational tools.

No guarantee of outcomes

We do not guarantee interviews, job offers, or that any particular employer’s system will accept your resume. Applicant tracking systems vary by vendor and by employer configuration, and no third-party tool can replicate a specific employer’s setup. Scores are guidance, not prediction.

Free and paid plans

Scanning a resume and seeing its ATS score is free, requires no account, and has no usage limit. The resume builder — creating, editing and importing resumes, AI suggestions, all downloads and the premium templates — requires a paid plan or the free trial. Resumes you create stay in your account if your plan ends, and you can edit and download them again by subscribing.

The free trial

Paid plans begin with a 7-day free trial. You are not charged during the trial. When it ends, the subscription automatically converts to a paid plan and you are charged $9.99 per calendar month unless you cancel first.

We send you an email two days before the trial converts, stating the amount and the date. This is a commitment, not a courtesy, and the reminder is sent to the address on your account.

Subscription and billing

The monthly plan is $9.99 per calendar month, charged on the same date each month. It is not a four-week cycle, so there are twelve charges a year rather than thirteen. The annual plan is $39 per year.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Your billing page always shows the next amount and the next charge date in plain figures.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your billing page. It is a single click, with no retention questions and no need to contact us.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end your access immediately. You keep every paid feature until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your billing page shows that date. We do not claw back time you have paid for.

Your resumes remain in your account after cancelling. Editing and downloading them requires a paid plan; free accounts can still scan resumes.

Refunds

Payments are not refundable. The 7-day free trial is there so you can try the builder before paying anything. Instead of a refund, you can cancel at any time and keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Payments are processed by Creem, our merchant of record. Nothing in this section limits any right to cancel or to a refund that the law where you live gives you. If a refund is issued, paid access ends immediately.

Price changes

If we change the price of a plan you are already subscribed to, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you. You can cancel before then and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

Your content

You retain all rights to the resumes you write or upload. You confirm you have the right to use that content. Do not include other people’s personal data without their consent.

We store the resumes you create in the builder so you can return to them. See the Privacy Policy for what that means and how to delete them.

AI-generated content

Some paid features generate text using AI. You are responsible for reviewing anything generated before sending it to an employer. The rewriter is instructed never to invent facts or metrics, and leaves a placeholder where a number belongs rather than inventing one — but you must verify that every claim on your resume is accurate, because you are the one who has to defend it in an interview.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to overload the service, scrape it at scale, or resell its output as your own product. Downloads are rate limited per account.

Content policy for the AI tools

The AI writing tools are for resumes, cover letters and job applications only. You must not use them, or any other part of the service, to create or request:

• sexual, pornographic or other NSFW content of any kind;
• hateful, harassing, violent or threatening content;
• content that is illegal, or that promotes illegal activity;
• fake credentials, forged documents, or claims meant to impersonate another person.

The AI is instructed to refuse such requests. Accounts that attempt to generate prohibited content may be suspended or closed under the section below.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, for example through abuse, fraud or attempts to overload the service. If we close an account for any other reason, we will refund the unused part of any paid period.

Liability

The service is provided as-is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. If a change materially affects paid subscribers, we will email you before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, please email us first. Most problems can be fixed quickly, and we will try to resolve any complaint informally before anything else.
